What’s In Your Earphones?- Liv’s December Playlist
December is here and that means the beginnings of Christmassy booze, baubles and banging tunes. Featuring a few Christmas tracks as well as a few other great numbers to bless your ears.
Fairytale of New York (feat. Kirsty McColl)- The Pogues
Kicking the December playlist off with a classic. It never gets old and is quite possibly my favourite Christmas song.
Rhiannon- Fleetwood Mac
Despite the festive feels, Christmas songs haven’t been the only thing on my playlist this month. I recently rediscovered this after watching Stevie Nicks feature on TV programme American Horror Story and fell in love all over again.
Cough Syrup- Young the Giant
I’ve loved this song for years now and never tire of it. Young the Giant are such an underrated band and well worth the listen!
One More Sleep- Leona Lewis
I’m not a massive fan of lots of the newer Christmas songs but this is an absolute favourite and the perfect Christmas cheesy bop.
‘A decade of Cavorting’. Courteeners have just marked the 10th anniversary of their debut album St. Jude with the announcement of two live shows in London and Manchester as well as a newly recorded and unplugged version of the album entitled St. Jude Re:Wired. Although I can’t make the tour it won’t stop me playing this album on repeat this month.
Big Picture- London Grammar
Taken from their newest album Truth is a Beautiful Thing. The whole album is amazing and Hannah‘s lyrics and voice are ethereal but Big Picture is definitely one of the favourites.
For What It’s Worth– Liam Gallagher
LG‘s been touring these past few months performing and promoting his first solo album As You Were. For What It’s Worth is a more refreshing ballad as opposed to some of his more classic indie/rock tracks and I love it.
I Need a Forest Fire– James Blake and Bon Iver
This track is a bit different to some of the others on the playlist but equally as amazing. It features James Blake and Bon Iver with hauntingly beautiful harmonies and symphonic swells.
Sick of Losing Soulmates– dodie
dodie popped up on my suggested artists on Spotify and thank God she did.
I Wouldn’t Be- Kodaline
Kodaline recently released a 4 track EP titled I Wouldn’t Be- this track has a very Celtic feel and features bagpipes towards the end (which I love despite many people’s hatred of the instrument). It’s very set apart from their other songs but is the stand out on the mini EP.
Is This Christmas?- The Wombats
It wouldn’t be my December playlist without an Indie Christmas song on it now would it?
