Unity Theatre Fade Up Five-Pound Tickets for Student Creatives.
“Unity Theatre develops theatre-makers at every stage of their careers and love introducing our audiences to exciting new artists, making work which sets trends, breaks boundaries, and champions the community.”
First established in the 1930s, the ‘Unity’ theatre brand is one of the last reminders of a national theatre movement that has played an important role in the theatrical and political life of the country. The intimate theatre shows patterns of hosting exciting, original performances with the aim of bringing about social and political change notably recently Mina, and A Self-Help Guide to Being in Love with Jeremy Corbyn. In addition to the already affordable ticket prices at 60% cheaper than the North-West average, Unity have now announced a brand-new ticket scheme offering £5 tickets to all artists and creatives of all ages.
The Creative Membership Scheme targets the growth of talent in Liverpool by providing aspiring, training or professional arts workers with the opportunity of affordable creative inspiration.
Unity Theatre’s CEO and Artistic Director, Gordon Millar, recognises the stresses held on young creatives and writes:
“Many in the arts cannot afford to attend the very works that can inform and inspire their practice. By providing tickets for a mere fiver we’re ensuring that performances are accessible to people that make it and those that will shape its future”.
Students aspiring towards a career in the arts can apply for a membership which grants them entry to all upcoming Unity shows and the majority of visiting productions for £5.
As writers, those involved in creative societies such as Ellipsis (and other student media) and Creative Writing are eligible for the Creative Membership Scheme and can register by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling the box office on 0151 709 4988.
