PREVIEW: The Pigeon Detectives @ Gorilla, Manchester – 11/03/2017
In the fifteenth year of the band’s existence, Leeds five-piece The Pigeon Detectives are back in Manchester on the 11th March to headline gig hot-spot Gorilla.
Having met as friends at school (aged 12 is clearly the prime time for finding your future band mates,) The Pigeon Detectives are about to release their fifth album Broken Glances on local label Dance to the radio, the same label with which they released their first record Wait for Me, which went on to sell over half a million copies. The band describes this new release as being more eclectic than their previous music, this time recording with Richard Formby as producer. Of the upcoming album, frontman Matt Bowman said ‘We’ve spent a decade writing songs for our fans, songs they could scream out loud to and go wild to at gigs! On this album we felt we owed it to them to actually deliver something real that documents the journey we’ve all been on together. With this record, we sat back from it a bit and it created more freedom to write without any kind of agenda, and with more emotional ups and downs across the album.’
The Pigeon Detectives kick off their UK tour in Dublin on 2nd March, and the new album will be in your ears 24th February.
