Liverpool Guild Summer Ball 2015: The Roaring Twenties
If, like many of us, you have spent the past weeks holed up in the library or shackled to your laptop, you might just be ready to blow off a little steam come end of exam season. Luckily, the Guild has you covered – next week’s Summer Ball promises to deliver all the glitz and glamour that one would expect from a theme of the ‘roaring twenties’. Art Deco decoration and sequins are to be expected, in the true manner of a Gatsby Party, although let’s hope that the University swimming pool is cordoned off for the evening.
While it almost seems too good to be true, Deputy Prez James Coe has been spotted on Facebook alluding to an indoor train in the Street and burlesque dancing as entertainment for the night, as well as indoor trees and the promise of pizza and Pimms – with the latter quelling any concerns from history buffs about the attention to detail regarding the era’s prohibition. And that’s without even mentioning all the music acts on that evening – Sigma, Foxes and Neon Jungle are all billed to join us in the Guild next Friday, as well as DJ sets from the North West’s most beloved DJs, Juicy.
The tickets are going fast and early bird/first release passes have already gone, but there’s still plenty of time to grab one for yourself – £30 each, two for £50, or five for £100. Tickets will be available on the door for £35 apiece but with so much on offer, it seems sensible to grab one fast. Fancy dress is optional, but encouraged – and after a couple of weeks of eschewing laundry for revision, it’s going to feel good to put on your dancing shoes.
The Guild are also running a competition to get the VIP experience for one lucky group, which will include a meet-and-greet with Neon Jungle, exclusive access to the Sphinx bar, and a pretty compelling £200 bar tab – which to the ears of those no longer eligible for student loan money, sounds like a pretty good deal. For details, visit the Guild site. Happy revision – see you all on the dance floor!
