Jordan Allen @ Arts Club
Jordan Allen are a four piece Indie-rock band who emerged on the Manchester scene amongst big names like Blossoms and Cabbage. They are embarking on their newest UK tour, and things kicked off to a great start in Liverpool. With strong driving guitar and the powerhouse of the drummer, Jordan Allen gave the crowd exactly what they were craving.
Friday the 30th of November was a busy day in Liverpool for gigs, competing against The Courteeners at the Liverpool Echo Arena, Jordan Allen pulled in a crowd of enthusiastic and dedicated fans who sang every word to every song. With great support from LOLA, Zulu and Brothers Of Mine, the stage at the Arts Club was brimming with talent.
Upstairs in at the Arts Club is a great venue for a smaller gig. The high ornate ceilings and general feel of the room lends itself perfectly to the atmosphere where the band and crowd were wrapped up in high energy and song together. You could easily mistake Jordan Allen’s song ‘White Lines’ as a classic Arctic Monkey’s single, a true credit to the singer songwriter. Dedicating the song to their loyal mates who still come and support them at their gigs since they started, it was a moving and atmospheric performance.
With a strong repertoire of songs Jordan Allen had the room jumping and dancing the whole time. When they performed their most popular songs like ‘R.O.S.I.E’ and ‘110 Ways to Make Things Better’ everyone threw themselves into singing back every word, it was a sweaty and exhaustingly fun experience. They also performed their latest single ‘Synchronised’ which had a great reception too! The whole band had that effortless ease and charisma on stage, something that will only help with their undoubtable future success.
I haven’t had such fun at gig like that in a while. My friend and myself were both unsure of what to expect from Jordan Allen’s live performance despite being familiar with their work. We both wound up having a really fun time and just threw ourselves into it, with my friend even managing to drop his phone amongst an energetic mosh pit, making for an entertaining rescue mission!
Many have praised Jordan Allen as being ones to watch this year, and I would definitely agree with that. I think it will be really interesting to see what they have offer in the new year. Sometimes you can just tell if a band is or not going make it big, and I can confidently day that Jordan Allen are ones to keep and ear out for and they will keep growing and establishing themselves as an exciting indie-rock band on the scene!
