Jangly dream pop Kings Spinn at the O2 Academy 2 — 28th September 2018 REVIEW
For Liverpool lads SPINN, playing a sold out show at the O2 Academy 2 on September 28th in front of home fans was a big must before their explosive breakthrough trip to Japan, marking the start of an exciting future for the band. Previous to the gig, SPINN had released a wealth of new music since their EP such as ‘It’s Not Getting Better’ (a personal favourite), ‘Shallow’, and finally ‘Boredom’ which was released the day before.
They did not disappoint with the new and old tunes, the audience old and young. “This is for those of you who’ve been there since the start”, Quinn said, as he repeatedly reached out to the audience and thanked them for their masses of support.
Think it’s possible to mosh to jangly dream pop? Well it is! and frontman Johnny Quinn greatly encouraged it, taking off and diving into a crowd surf.
The night ended in Sound Liverpool, a bar not far from Liverpool Docks, with a DJ set from members of the support bands, and Sh*t Indie Disco frontmen Nick and Sean, as well as members of SPINN themselves. It seemed like a celebration of all the band has been through and how much they have yet to come!
