Hudson Taylor ‘Feel It Again’: A Review

After what feels like an eternity, the world has finally (FINALLY) been blessed with new music from Irish sibling duo Hudson Taylor! This time, in the form of the feel good folk 5 track EP ‘Feel It Again’. Having adored the band since their YouTube days way back in 2012, I knew this EP could only showcase Hudson Taylor’s talent, and display their growth and development from over the past 6+ years.

Opening with ‘Run With Me’, which the band released as a single in January, it’s clear Hudson Taylor still have their upbeat and euphoric style, that they have been know for since day one. It’s a solid opener, and with repetitive lyrics and an infectious tune, it’s hard not to have this song stuck in your head for hours on end. The bright melody adds to its ‘easy listening’ appeal making it a perfect track that can slot in easily to any happy and cheerful playlist.

‘Easy Baby’, and singalong esque ‘Travellin’ (which is filled to the brim with harmonica solos), highlights the mixture of styles and genres that the ‘Feel It Again’ EP brings. ‘Old Soul’ is a stand out track amongst the mix, holding a gentle simplicity and calming disposition. Performed on only 2 acoustic guitars and featuring a mixture of harmonies and backing vocals from fellow artist Gabrielle Aplin, it stands as a soothing breather within the collection of upbeat folk and Americana.

Title track, and EP closure, ‘Feel It Again’ brings the 5 song stint to an impeccable end. Filled with emotion, rhythm and energy it would be purely impossible not to love this song. It’s euphoric feel embodies the Hudson Taylor style flawlessly and is yet another reminder of why this band is so good and has kept a strong and consistent following over the years.

Overall, the whole EP is an accurate representation of Hudson Taylor’s back catalogue, with added layers of the experience and craftsmanship that they have picked up along the way. A powerful and effective return to music, we can only anticipate album 2 will go even further.

Hudson Taylor’s latest EP ‘Feel It Again’ is available for digitally purchase and stream on all streaming services including Spotify & Apple Music.
