Cirque du Soleil – OVO: Preview

Originating in Quebec in 1984 by street performers Guy Laliberté and Gilles Ste-Croix, Cirque du Soleil returns to the UK stage with its 23rd current global show: OVO!

Meaning “egg” in Portuguese, OVO is a creative exploration of the enigmatic circle of life through a vibrant on-stage performance uncovering a colourful ecosystem teeming with life. The show provides an exploration into the unfathomable lives of insects, interpreting how they work, eat, crawl, flutter, play, fight and look for love in a non-stop riot of energy and movement.

Compromised of 50 incredibly talented performing artists from 17 countries across the globe, OVO endeavours to provide an insight into the natural world at the same time as providing an awe-inspiring spectacle for the audience.

The cast for this tour includes UK grown Alanna Baker (playing the Black Spider in OVO) who was crowned gymnastics European Champion in 2011 and won Bronze in the World Championships in 2012. Artistic guides for the show are Laliberté and Ste-Croix themselves, keeping their vision for Cirque du Soleil alive so many years after they originally created it.

Launching in Liverpool on the 16th August, OVO will visit some of the UK’s biggest cities and arenas and making appearances in Sheffield, Newcastle, Glasgow, Nottingham, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and Belfast. Tickets for the perfect family day out can be bought on the links below:
