Bright Light Bright Light support Erasure on their 2018 tour

On the 6th February 2018, Welsh nu-disco artist Bright Light Bright Light (BLBL – Rod Thomas) supported 80s pop sensation Erasure on the Liverpool date of their European tour. Opening with Into the Night, BLBL’s funky disco sound lit up the party vibes in the Philharmonic Hall along with the glamourous glow-in-the-dark rainbow suit that perfectly matched the stage name! With help from a fellow drummer and keyboard player, BLBL performed his set with passion and enthusiasm providing the sold-out venue with a quality opening act. Catchy melodies and dance choreography in songs such as Symmetry of Two Hearts and An Open Heart left everyone warmed up for the performance ahead, excited to continue dancing and remain in the 80’s groove. Although heavily orientated towards the upbeat dance tracks, BLBL showcased some of his more mellow tracks with songs such as Moves where there were chilling vocals, and Little Bit which demonstrated some serious saxophone skills. The vibrant tones were brought back up again with the synth-heavy song An Open Heart, and finishing the set with Running Back to You, BLBL were able to complete their set on an epic high.

Bright Light Bright Light can be considered the perfect opener for Erasure as Rod Thomas established the new wave of 80’s synth sounds for a broader audience; showing that there is still a continuation of the music that many people love in this modern age. As the tour continues, the two artists will provide a fine equilibrium of old and new music whilst providing a night full of dance!
